My Thinking Futures services are designed to help you build organisational capacity in strategic foresight. Lots of people talk about the need for strategic foresight – I work with you to do strategic foresight in your organisation.

Why is strategic foresight important?  How much time and effort, not to mention money, do you invest in your strategic planning process?  Are you entirely happy with it? Do you get the outcomes you need, or is the plan out of date by the time it’s published? These are characteristics of plans developed for today which fail when they collide with the reality of the future.

An organisational strategic foresight capacity enables you to explore the impact of current trends and drivers of change over time, so that you can develop a strategy that readies you for whatever challenges the future brings. This ultimately, will save you time, energy and resources, all of which are under constant pressure in organisation’s today.

Designing my Services

I use a four level integrated approach to strategy development and implementation which links thinking about future strategic options with decision making and planning today. This allows us to directly link the intangible strategic thinking with the tangible strategic plan.

As well as working to communicate the value of futures work in organisational strategy through presentations in organisations and at conferences, Thinking Futures works with you in the following areas:

• Environmental Scanning – setting up scanning systems from beginning through to using the outcomes, including working with teams or mentoring people who will be leading scanning projects,
• Strategic Thinking and Scenarios – using scanning results to strengthen thinking about plausible strategic opportunities, often using scenario planning,
• Strategic Planning – working with you to develop stronger, aligned plans, and
• Strategy Projects – putting it all together – working with you to develop stronger strategic thinking, scanning and planning processes.
